A Different Thanksgiving for Our Holbrook Communities
Saying Thanks and Staying Safe
We have all seen the news and stories about the difficulties and disappointments that have happened this year—it has been a year of cancelations and changes in plans. That said, the holidays are nearing, and you can’t cancel Thanksgiving! Even in what has undoubtedly been a challenging year, we can still find plenty of reasons to be thankful.
At Holbrook, we prioritize health, wellness, and happiness. Throughout our many locations, our community has so much to be thankful for. As Thanksgiving nears, let us take a look at the ways to celebrate while staying safe.
Celebrating Thanksgiving in 2020
Enjoying Thanksgiving Safely
Gathering
How will the “new normal” fit into the holiday season? We know how important family time is for Holbrook residents. This year, we have to be cautious and mindful when deciding whether to gather for Thanksgiving. The CDC advises against visiting family from out of town or those whom you do not see on a regular basis. Keeping in mind that close, indoor interactions without masks are considered a high risk at the moment, please consider gathering alternatives such as meeting virtually by using video software such as Zoom.

Virtual Thanksgiving
Meeting virtually is the best alternative to gathering in person. On Thanksgiving Day, Zoom users will have no time restrictions for meetings. This means you can see your family virtually for as long as you want without putting yourself at risk by coming into contact with them. If you need assistance joining or setting up a Zoom meeting, please refer to this guide.
Dining
Holbrook’s communities offer exceptional dining options. Nothing beats a home-cooked meal on Thanksgiving, but our dining locations offer fresh dishes that are crafted with your wellbeing in mind. Our menu selections identify what food and drink do for the body and how they can stabilize and reverse chronic care conditions.
Keeping Tradition
While Thanksgiving may look different in 2020 than in years past, we can still enjoy Thanksgiving with family-favorite longstanding traditions. For example, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is still slated to broadcast on TV as are a host of NFL games. Despite meeting virtually, your family can still share what everyone is thankful for or continue an annual tradition by watching a movie via a virtual watch party. This is a time to get creative when celebrating—more importantly, it’s a time to be thankful for what we have and those in our lives.
